History of the company

Restaurant collection's history is at first a story of personal commitment; the story of Serge Billot, successful restaurateur in Cambodia.

 

More than 12 years ago he fell deeply in love with Khmer Food and in 2002 chose to start his first bar/restaurant, ‘Banana Leaf’, in the now famous Pub Street. At the time the street was a little-known unpaved road close to the Old Market but it’s now a bustling thoroughfare in the center of town and a “must-see” for most visitors.

 

In those early days of Restaurant collection’s history the amount of tourists coming to Cambodia and venturing the streets of Siem Reap was a tiny fraction of what it is today. Development, overall infrastructure and services available were very basic, but despite this Serge Billot, being the restless entrepreneur that he is, opened a second restaurant ‘Amok’ almost a year later. This continued with ‘Cambodian BBQ’ opening in 2004 and has continued ever since.

 

Restaurant collection today consists of 8 different restaurants and 1 local macaron shop, 1 cooking class and 1 catering service in Siem Reap. Serge has maintained a strong influence in the creative process for all the outlets and crafted a unique food experience for each location.

Highest standards

All our restaurant kitchens are operated in accordance with western standards of hygienic practice and all our restaurants have been hygienically certified by the Cambodian Ministry of Health, with the remainder currently undergoing evaluation.

 

Restaurant collection is constantly renovating and upgrading its infrastructure to meet new demand and offer an industry leading standard in the area.

 

We have free WiFi, accept Visa and offer air-conditioned areas in most of our restaurants (only Cambodian BBQ and Banana Leaf don’t currently offer A/C areas).
